Another week, another turn at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart for BTS, who have proven they can sell a song like no one else in the music industry these days. Impressively, the South Korean septet doesn’t just refuse to relent control over the highest rung on the tally this time around, they actually claim the top two spots, landing a pair of bestsellers.
Steady at No. 1 once again on this week’s Digital Song Sales chart is the band’s own “Dynamite,” which has racked up the most turns atop the list this year. This frame, the cut sold another 94,000 copies (just under, actually), according to data provided by Nielsen Music. That number is easily enough to give it another spin atop the ranking. That sum is an incredible figure for a single that has already been out for over a month and which has never sold under 75,000 copies in a tracking period.
Up to No. 2 this week is Jason Derulo and Jawsh 685’s “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat),” which now also credits BTS. The tune vaults from No. 5 to the runner-up rung thanks to a healthy 76,000 digital sales. That sum is up over 800% from last week, as the song was re-released with BTS lending their vocals to the catchy cut which has already taken over the world.
It’s relatively rare for any musical act to occupy more than one spot inside the top 10 on the Digital Song Sales chart, and it’s even less common for a name to grab the Nos. 1 and 2 spots with tracks not featured on the same successful album.
Billboard hasn’t yet revealed this week’s Hot 100, but when the company does, the 76,000 digital purchases will certainly help “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)” gain considerably on the most competitive singles tally in the U.S., and it may very well lift all the way to No. 1…and based on the fact that they’re now credited on the tune when it comes to sales, there’s a real shot that BTS will claim another top 10 in short order.
